2,848 cities, towns and municipalities in 84 countries have already committed to VOTE EARTH for Earth Hour 2009, as part of the worlds first global election between Earth and global warming.
Basically, this coming December, leaders from around the world are going to meet to {hopefully} sign the Copenhagen Initiative which would reduce carbon emissions around the world, reducing the long-term negative effects of climate change that has been occurring as a result from rapid industralization, environmental degredation, and over-consumption of resources.
Turning off your lights for just one hour on Saturday is the best way to voice your "vote" that you want world leaders to commit to reducing carbon emissions.
